Edinburgh, Adelaide…Wynnum? Welcome to the home of Fringe in Brisbane, Australia. The recent Olympic announcement has proven how spectacular our little slice of paradise is. What better way to celebrate our own backyard than with arts and culture?
There is no denying that the arts, entertainment, hospitality and tourism industries have had a horrible twelve months. This Festival began in November 2020 as a direct response to 'the big C'. Wynnum Fringe transforms Brisbane's bayside into a unique stage, showcasing the best in arts and entertainment. From waterfront stage shows, to authentic indigenous experiences and music on the street.
"Wynnum Fringe is more than just an experience – it’s a journey" says Festival Founder/ CEO/ Artistic Director Tom Oliver, "it's a journey where you will see, hear, smell, taste and be totally immersed in the wonders of a unique Arts Festival that could only take place on the coastal fringe of our vibrant new world city. The Festival employs artists, tells stories, amplifies foot traffic in shops and celebrates sacred land. It's escapism, it's fun, it's a no brainer!"
Wynnum Fringe takes everything that is fabulous about a Fringe Festival: the weird and wonderful creative offerings from various artists, the festoon lights lining the trees, the excitement and buzz of new experiences - and packages it into a memorable event which is uniquely Brisbane and uniquely Bayside.
Wynnum CBD will continue to act as the heart of the arts festival and a pedestrian playground featuring laneway activations, food trucks, outdoor bars and free local performances on Friday 19 November and Saturday 20 November. This year, the Festival will expand with the addition of Rock The Bay - a musical precursor on October 9 - and the Raine & Horne Wynnum Spiegeltent from November 17.
So... bring your Bae to the Bay and experience everything that Wynnum Fringe 2021 has to offer. We dare you!
